Calmthy Farm Rural magazine

Timeline

The magazine's annual calendar

The rural year shapes what we publish

At Calmthy Farm we don't force a rhythm of our own: we follow the one set by the seasons. When the temperature changes, so does what gets planted, what gets stored, and what is worth telling. This page brings that journey together so you know what to find in each stretch of the year and when the schedule of fairs and visits is updated.

See the guides by season

Autumn

We start with planting guides for the cooler months and notes on seasonal preserves. It is the time when the garden asks for something different and also the moment to store what summer gave.

Winter

The focus shifts to composting, caring for laying hens, and garden cooking with what is left in jars. Less activity outside, more reading about process.

Spring

We return to visits to small producers and field profiles. Garden workshops also open and tours of nearby farms resume.

Summer

Drip irrigation and building the homemade greenhouse resume. The region's rural fair calendar is updated every month and the weekly newsletter gives advance notice of guided visits.

What holds the Calmthy Farm calendar together

Four reasons why the magazine's yearly rhythm is easy to follow

Guides tied to the season, not to a single month

When autumn arrives, planting and preserving notes appear together and in order. The same happens in winter with composting and the care of laying hens. This way, readers find what they need without searching through material from other seasons.

Producer visits published when they happen

Tours of nearby farms and field profiles come out in spring and summer, when the work outside is underway. They are not held back for later: they are told while the garden is active and the drip irrigation is being set up.

A weekly newsletter that gives notice beforehand, not afterward

The schedule of workshops and guided tours of nearby farms arrives by email with enough advance notice to plan ahead. The region's rural fair calendar is also updated every month, with the dates that are already confirmed.

Reader letters read within the same cadence

Letters do not stay in a drawer: they are read and answered following the seasonal rhythm of publication. That continuity keeps the tone warm and prevents the section from becoming a dead archive.
